Visakhapatnam: Andhra Pradesh MedTech Zone (AMTZ) Limited, ultra-modern medical equipment manufacturing and testing facility, was conceived to create a world-class manufacturing hub in India and catapult India as a global destination to manufacture MedTech products for one of the biggest markets.
There is a clear focus on bringing in innovation and providing easy and affordable access to healthcare products. The AMTZ provides a holistic ecosystem of innovation, manufacturing, testing and validation with mandated policy of market access support from the government, said Principal Secretary, Medical and Health Poonam Malakondaiah.
Inaugurating the AMTZ, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu dedicated the India’s first ever facility, spread in 270 acres of land, to the nation on Thursday. On the occasion, addressing media conference, Malakondaiah along with the Chief Executive Officer of AMTZ Jitendar Sharma explained about the facilities and specialties of the AMTZ.
The zone will manufacture medical devices at a substantially reduced cost of upto 40 per cent by providing end-to-end services for operational needs of the industry. The zone also provides high end and high technology manufacturing and testing facilities for all segments of medical devices and equipment, she added.
In addition, the Kalam Institute of Health Technology (KIHT), created with support from the Department of Biotechnology, identifies policy and process interventions for promoting indigenous MedTech growth leadership in healthcare technologies.
