Amaravati: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid the foundation stone for Ramco greenfield cement industry at Kalvatala village of Kolimigundla mandal in Kurnool district over video-conference from his residence here on Friday.

The Chief Minister asked the Ramco management to set up the industry in 14 months (by February 2020) to provide employment opportunities to local people.

Speaking on the occasion, the Chief Minister said that he was according priority to the Rayalaseema region for it to development as an industrial hub. There would soon be air-connectivity to Kurnool as the airport at Orwakal would being functioning soon.

Kolimiguntla would be developed as cement industry hub and a pharma city would come up near Orwakal. The proposed mega seed park in Kurnool district would be able to supply seeds to the entire world, he said.

The Chief Minister said automobile industry developed in Sri city in Chittoor district, textile park at Nagari, electronic cluster in Tirupati, pharma park, cement hub, mega seed and solar parks in Kurnool district, steel plant in Kadapa will change the economic scenario of the Rayalaseema region by providing huge employment opportunities to the youth.

The Chief Minister recalled how Kia Motors in the Anantapur region which was fetching Rs 20,000 crore investment would transform Rayalaseema into an economic powerhouse. He said that the state government has been making sincere efforts to develop Rayalaseema region by investing up to Rs 50,000 crore.

He said by linking Godavari and Krishna the state government is able to supply water to the Rayalaseema region to cater to the irrigation and drinking water needs of people. He said despite delay in release of funds, the state government is on schedule to complete Polavaram project works.
