Tirupati: The Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu laid foundation stone for RS.2200 cr TCL company at Vikruthamala near Tirupati airport. TCL has been the third top global television brand and leading consumer electronics company. It has been establishing its industry here in a sprawling 158 acre campus. It will start it's production by December 2019 and provide 8000 jobs. It is expected to produce 60 lakh TVs per annum from this plant.
It is the first overseas production unit of TCL’s panel subsidiary Shenzhen China Star Optoelectronics Technology Co., Ltd (CSOT). The CSOT panel module factory will produce screens for TVs and mobile phones, with a designed production capacity of eight million 22-inch to 55-inch, large-sized TV screens and 30 million 3.5-inch to 8-inch, small-sized mobile screens per year.
The investment in the panel module factory in India marks the first step in CSOT’s overseas deployment. Upon completion, the project will help realize CSOT’s capabilities in smart manufacturing and product delivery on a global scale, providing services for customers and partners worldwide.
TCL Chairman Li Dongsheng, Minister for IT and Panchayat Raj N Lokesh and Minister for Industries N Amarnath Reddy and other officials were present on the occasion.
