Vijayawada: District Collector B Lakshmikantham on Thursday said the district was all set to launch a butterfly park at international standards with over 50 species fluttering at Mulapadu near Vijayawada by the month end.
He said the detailed scientific survey confirmed the presence of the number of butterfly species in the Mulapadu block of the Kondapalli Reserve Forest (KRF) for developing the State’s first butterfly park.
Forest authorities in collaboration with the Birds Society of Andhra Pradesh and wildlife photographers were documenting the butterfly species on a stretch of two kilometers of the strategic forest area in the KRF.
He also said the Kondapalli Fort soon would witness hill festival in January (2019) which will draw the attention of tourists all over the world.
“We will host a world rappelling event in which best of experts will climb down the hill by using ropes.”
He said the adventure sports was being promoted by units like Youth Hostel Association of India and other private clubs to add fizz to the lives of the fast-growing city of Vijayawada.
"The international rappelling event will enthuse more youngsters to take up adventure sports".
He said Vijayawada was one among the most happening ten cities in the country and the district, to increase its per capita income to Rs 2, 35,000 next year, should concentrate on sectors like tourism, fisheries, aqua, dairy, agriculture, horticulture, poultry, and industries.
“If these sectors are developed the average income of the citizens will increase thus paving for the increase in the per capita income,” he added.
