Vijayawada: Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu on Tuesday directed Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) officials to establish a special Results-Based Monitoring and Evolution System to track progress of capital construction works. The Chief Minister will lay foundation stone for Secretariat works on Thursday.

The State government is spending Rs 4,890 crore for construction of AP Secretariat buildings which will have five towers. The Secretariat buildings will be of a height of 212 metres and are coming up in 41 acres.

A total of 69.8 lakh square feet will be available in five towers. Naidu conducted a teleconference on Tuesday with the officials and issued direction on the construction of the Secretariat buildings. He suggested to the officials to identify the critical issues and analyse the impact of actions on daily basis so that it would be helpful for the speedy completion of the works.

He also emphasised on adopting a comprehensive approach to achieve balance among various aspects such as construction of buildings, social infrastructure, which needs to be executed and completed simultaneously, and most importantly the economic development.

“With the measures taken by the government such as creation of infrastructure, including roads, housing projects, establishment of private universities, hotels, the local economy is thriving and now the government is focusing on economic development in the capital city,” he said.

Principal Secretary for APCRDA Ajay Jain briefed the Chief Minster that the judicial complex would be handed over to the authorities concerned by February 2019 and the bungalows for Ministers, Judges and Secretaries are expected to be completed as per the schedule.

APCRDA Commissioner Ch Sreedhar said that the UAE based National Central Cooling Company PJSC had been given Letter of Award (LoA) in respect of development of District Cooling System (DCS) in Amaravati Government Complex area on PPP mode.

“There will no need to arrange individual cooling systems in Amaravati as all the houses will be connected to the centralised DCS,” he said. He said the CRDA had entered into an agreement with the Centre for Urbanisation, Buildings and Environment (CUBE- IIT Madras) for additional scope of works as mentioned for third party quality assurance and quality control.
