Flexies removed following High Court order
Following the High Court of Hyderabad direction, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati MCT on Thursday started removing unauthorised flexies and display, and advertisement boards in the pilgrim city
Tirupati: Following the High Court of Hyderabad direction, the Municipal Corporation of Tirupati (MCT) on Thursday started removing unauthorised flexies and display, and advertisement boards in the pilgrim city.
Responding to the Public Interest Litigation (PIL) petition filed by former Assembly Speaker and senior citizen A Eswar Reddy in the High Court of Hyderabad, against the menace of flexies and boards, the Hyderabad Court directed the corporation to take immediate action.
Accordingly, the corporation personnel swung into action and removed flexies in various places in the city. In a press release, Municipal Corporation Commissioner V Vijay Rama Raju warned that criminal cases will be filed under AP Municipal Act 1955 and Protection of Public Properties Act of 1984, against those sticking wall posters, putting up flexies and boards in public places and government offices.
The flexies and boards are hindering smooth flow of traffic and also causing inconvenience to the public, he said, warning stringent action against those acting in violation of the Municipal Act and Public Properties Protection Act. Corporation sources said that the drive against the posters, banners, flexies and boards in public places including roads, electricity poles, grave yards and places of worship would continue.
