Visakhapatnam: The NDA government has decided to handover the INS Virat to Maharashtra government to develop the decommissioned Indian Navy’s warship as a museum and hotel.

In Rajya Sabha, Minister for Defence Nirmala Sitharaman on Monday informed that Maharashtra Government has forwarded a preliminary project report (PPR) on conversion of INS Virat into a museum and hotel and the ministry has approved Maharashtra Government’s proposal in-principle.

Rajya Sabha member V Vijayasai Reddy asked the minister to reveal the status of the INS Virat project and also asked the minister that whether it is a fact that INS Virat has first been given to AP to develop the ship into a museum at Visakhapatnam?
