Guntur: Minister for Youth, Law, Sports and Skill Development Kollu Ravindra along with Ministers Nakka Ananda Babu and Prathipati Pulla Rao inaugurated International Skill Development Center established by Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu (APNRT) here on Monday.

Speaking on the occasion, K Bhavani Sankar, CEO, APNRT said that the new Centre will offer training in four trades, which are in high demand in Gulf countries.

They would provide training in Electrician, Plumbing and fire fighting, Masonry (Block & Plaster) and Formwork courses initially.

He said that the centre was set up in line with the vision of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu to reduce the dependence on agriculture and to give world class training to youth in various trades which will help them get jobs both in India and abroad.

APNRT president Ravi Kumar Vemuru said they would establish four International Skill development centres in Andhra Pradesh at Amaravati, Kadapa, Kurnool and Srikakulam districts.

“In the first phase, we started in Guntur. The objective of the centres is to upgrade the mechanical skill necessary for 8 different trades that are in high demand to the established and prospective migrants and provide them with international training certificates along with employment in gulf countries,” he said and added that Electrician, Plumbing, fire fighting, Masonry (Block & Plaster), Formwork, HVAC, duct fabrication and frontline supervisor are the 8 trades that are in high demand in Gulf countries.

He said that two batches of training will be conducted in each trade with a maximum of 30 candidates per batch at each centre. The duration of training programme will be three months, which includes classroom training as well as the practical work for the above mentioned trades.

A total of 960 candidates will be trained per year at this international training centre. All the candidates enrolled for training with government of Andhra Pradesh will provide free boarding and lodging facilities for the entire duration of the training along with transportation to the training centre, he added.
