Cops seize 69 red sanders logs worth `1 crore; 2 held

Chittoor: During vehicle check on Vellore-Bengaluru national highway, Chittoor Rural police nabbed two smugglers, who were smuggling red sanders logs in a four-wheeler, on Saturday.
Speaking to the media here, District SP Vikrant Patil has revealed the names of smugglers as M Pulla Reddy (30) and G Mastan Reddy (40), residents of Kurnool district. He stated another three smugglers, who were in the vehicle, have managed to escape.
Based on the information provided by arrested smugglers, the SP said police rushed to Narigapalli village and recovered big haul of red sanders logs. The SP mentioned 69 red sanders logs worth Rs 1 crore were seized from smugglers.
He announced rewards for police personnel, who were involved in arresting the smugglers.
Additional SP (Operations) K Krishnarjuna Rao, DSP (Task Force) Giridhar and other police personnel were present.
