Bhimavaram: The responsibility lies on the young engineers to store the available water through projects and other means, said retired chief engineer of Godavari delta S Hari Babu.

He was the chief guest at the inaugural of two-day Supernova 2k19 symposium organised by the civil department of SRKR Engineering College here on Monday.

Addressing the gathering, Hari Babu said that every year about 3,000 TMC water was going waste into the sea.

With each TMC, about 7,000 acres land can be cultivated. The young engineers should come up with new ideas with latest technologies to store water without going waste which will be useful to society, he urged.

College principal Dr G Parthasarathi Varma said the civil department of the college had supported the government with innovative ideas through consulting services to Railways, ONGC and Municipalities.

College secretary and correspondent Sagi Vittal Ranga Raju said that the college had established about 18 research centres which guided many other institutions.
