Visakhapatnam: Due to financial problems, three members of a family attempted suicide by consuming pesticide at Ambedkar Nagar near Chinamushiriwada under Pendurthi police station limits here on Tuesday.
According to sources, K Rama (30), was a widow and was residing along with her two sons at Ambedkar Nagar. On Tuesday afternoon, she and her two sons K Ganesh and K Durga Prasad, alias Adisetti, consumed pesticides and fell unconscious. She died immediately and the two sons were kept on ventilator.
Pendurthi police said that K Rama along and her two sons were found lying unconscious in their home by the locals who informed to the police and shifted the trio to King George Hospital in the city, where Rama was declared brought dead by the doctors.
During primary investigation, police revealed that Rama was in depressed state after the death of her husband and another son. They had taken loans from some private persons and failed to repay them and were struggling to lead their lives.
