Ongole: The Prakasam district unit of Students Federation of India protested in front of the district Collectorate on Thursday, demanding that the government intervene immediately and see the Acharya Nagarjuna University conducts a mega supplementary to the degree students and offer concessions in exam fees and bus passes.

The SFI district secretary, Ch Vinod, district president K Chinnapareddy, DYFI district president Ch Sudhakar and others said that 49,686 out of 92,173 students who appeared for the semesters I, III and V exams were announced failed by the university.

They also alleged that the university has collected Rs 25 crore in the name of revaluation fees from the UG and PG students in the last five years.

They said that the university was charging Rs 935 for revaluation and Rs 1200 for the photocopy of the answer sheet.

They demanded that the government order the university to revaluate the answer sheets of all students who failed in the exams and take action on the valuators whose negligence was found.

As most of the district was notified as drought-affected, they also demanded that the government increase the fee reimbursement limit to the district students along with announcing a special concession in all fees and bus pass charges.

The SFI additional secretary, Obul Reddy, town president E Mahendra and others also participated in the protest in front of the collectorate and submitted a memorandum to the Additional Joint Collector, D Markandeyulu for action.
