Eluru: In a best example to emulate for others, alumni of a 70-year-old school took the initiative to rebuild the school and improve conditions in school. The proud alumni of the school are meeting at the school on Sunday.

SSDNRPH ZP High School at Yandagandi village in Undi mandal of West Godavari district was established in 1951. The school was named after freedom-fighter and patriot Sardar Dandu Narayana Raju.

The tiled roof of the school was totally damaged over a period of time. An old student and Gangavaram port chairman DVSN Raju swung into action to replace the roof.

He took the help of another old student and prominent engineer JV Narsimha Raju and redesigned to replace the tiled roof with concrete slab. They spend lakhs of rupees on account of expenditure. The school is being decorated into new one.

An old student, Penmetsa Jagga Raju is personally supervising the works by camping at the school. Another old student and commander of NCC for Godavari districts, Srinivasa Rao arranged the model of a missile on the school premises. One more alumnus and engineer who settled in Hyderabad, Gadiraju Prasada Raju Babu took the initiative to organize the alumni meet in a grand manner.

The school has earned reputation for building many political careers as well. PV Narsimha Raju, an alumni, worked as MLA for Bhimavaram four times. PVL Narsimha Raju has been Yandagandi society president for 15 years and received award from the Centre twice.

Many others who have been staying in other parts of the country and world have been eagerly waiting to meet their old friends at the meet on Sunday.
