Vijayawada: Krishna District Collector B Lakshmikantham, distributed sanitary napkins to the girls studying at Bishop Azaraiah High School on Friday.
He participated in the ‘Raksha’ programme organised by the District Medical and Health department along the Civil Supplies department.
Addressing the gathering, the district Collector said that as part of hygiene of the girls, the government was distributing sterilised sanitary napkins.
They would distribute the sterilised napkins every month to 50,000 girls who are studying in Class VIII, IX and X in all the government schools across the district.
Later, the Collector was felicitated for bagging Indian Red Cross Society Gold Medal and Cup recently.
District Civil Supplies department, Manager Ch Ramanujamma, District Medical and Health officer MV Rajya Lakshmi, Deputy Educational officer K Ravi Kumar, Bishop Azaraiah High School principal Mary Gold, teachers, girls participated.
