Sankranti celebrations in Vemu Engg College
Sankranti arrived two days before in Vemu Engineering College, Kothakota, cheering the students, faculty and the management staff, Saturday
Chittoor: Sankranti arrived two days before in Vemu Engineering College, Kothakota, cheering the students, faculty and the management staff, Saturday.
The girl students attired in traditional dress engaged in decorating the entire college premises and also the roads leading to the college with colourful rangoli and the men students saw the college beautified with green festoons, floral decorations giving the touch of festivity to the campus.
The faculty members along with their families also in traditional dress prepared ‘Pongal’ and offered it to God ceremoniously in a ritual even as the students chanting ‘Pongalo Pongal’ adding pomp and joy to the celebration.
Kite flying, dance and songs unearthing the artistic talents of the students and many village games played by the students added to the fun and frolic.
The festival came to an end with sumptuous lunch including customary food items pulihora, chakkara pongali and many more tickling the taste buds.
A joyous environment was palpable in the campus with the students, faculty members along with their family and management staff greeting and exchanging Sankranti wishes with each other.
