Rajamahendravaram: City traffic police are initiating steps to regulate the traffic movement in the city apart from cracking a whip on the vehicle riders who violates traffic rules. Many vehicle riders, mainly youth, are violating traffic rules in the city and posing problems to others.
According to an official of urban traffic police wing, 'redline violation detectors' will be installed in 22 important junctions in the city to nab the traffic rule violators. The department will send the penalty challans to the respective vehicle owners through post and also SMS to their phone numbers.Steps were taken to install the detectors at 22 junctions in February. Traffic police in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam were using the detectors and imposing fines on the respective riders.
The number of two-wheelers was increased in the city and many accidents were taking place due to fast driving by students and youth. The existing roads are not sufficient to support increasing traffic.
The detectors may be installed at Y junction, Nandam Ganiraju junction, Kambala tank junction,Devi Chowk junction, Gokavaram bus station junction, Pushkar Ghat junction, Tadithota junction, Shelton junction, Kotipalli bus station junction, Azad Chowk junction, Vemagiri junction, etc.
