Parchuru: The Inkollu police booked a case under Protection of Children from The Sexual Offences Act, 2012, against the director and correspondent of Morampudi Rangaiah and Ramanamma Prakasam Public School on Monday, for allegedly sexually abusing a Class X girl student.

According to V Srinivasa Rao, the DSP of Chirala and HELP NGO coordinator BV Sagar, Veeraiah is the correspondent and director of MRR Prakasam Public School.

The school asked the Class X students to stay on the school premises in the night to attend extra study hours.

Native of Bhimavaram village of Inkollu mandal and Class X student complained to her parents about the school correspondent and director Veeraiah that he was sexually abusing her and other girl students in the school during late night hours.

The angry parents reached the school on Sunday night, as the classes were to be restarted after Sankranti holidays, and protested in front of it.

The villagers and parents of other students joined the protest and demanded that authorities take action on the accused correspondent.

After receiving a complaint from the parents of the girl, the police registered a case under POCSO act and started the search for the accused.

The DSP said on Monday that a statement from the girl is to be recorded and she will be sent to the hospital for the clinical report.
