The organs of a brain dead housewife were donated to the needy with the consent of her family members
Kakinada: The organs of a brain dead housewife were donated to the needy with the consent of her family members.
According to sources, a resident of Ramachandrapuram in East Godavari, Dantuluri Sita Devi along with her husband Venkatapati Raju was on the way back to their place on a two-wheeler on Saturday after attending a programme at Prathipadu in East Godavari.
En route at Rachapalli village in Prathipadu mandal, Sita Devi who was pillion rider fell from the two-wheeler due to pothole on the road.
Sita Devi sustained severe head injuries and was rushed for medical aid to Apollo Hospital in Kakinada. She was declared as brain dead on Sunday after medication.
With consent of her husband, Venkataapati Raju, and daughter Pratima, the organs were donated to Apollo Hospital.
Eyes were donated to Badam Balakrishna Eye Bank in Kakinada on Monday. The gesture of family members was appreciated by all.
