Visakhapatnam: GITAM Deemed to be University on Saturday signed MoU with international academic organisation College Board to reach 185 countries through SAT (Scholastic Assessment Test) exam.

SAT is a standardised test administered by the College Board and is required to be taken by students seeking admission in undergraduate schools in 185 countries.

If the student is looking to get admission to a particular course, s/he can take the SAT subject tests to show his knowledge and understanding of that particular subject.

Subject tests are offered in areas like literature, history, mathematics, sciences and foreign languages. SAT exam has been developed to evaluate the written, verbal and mathematical skills of the candidates.

The College Board (Livingston, New Jersey) International Vice-President Linda Liu and GITAM Registrar Prof KVDG Balaji exchanged the MoU documents in the presence of GITAM In-Charge Vice-Chancellor Prof K Sivaramakrishna here on Saturday.

Addressing the gathering, College Board Vice-President Linda Liu informed that College Board was connected with 41,000 secondary schools and 13,000 SAT Test Centers covering 185 countries.

She mentioned that total 300 secondary schools in India joined as members in College Board.

She observed that there was a gap between Indian higher educational institutions and secondary schools due to increased competition.

She said that the mission of the College Board’s Indian Global Higher Education Alliance is to promote access and quality by convening a consortium of higher education institutions in India dedicated to advancing innovation in admissions.

She announced that College Board is launching “College Board India Scholars Program” to support the economically poor students with scholarships.

GITAM In-Charge Vice-Chancellor Prof.K.Sivaramakrishna said that the university is very much interested to admit foreign students basing on SAT score which was conducted by College Board.

He informed that GITAM Deemed to be University got Autonomous status by UGC and permitted to admit the foreign students.

College Board India Higher Education Outreach Leader Kunal Mehra, GITAM senior faculty members, directors participated in the interaction.
