Singarayakonda: District Collector Vadarevu Vinay Chand announced that the state government was working for the welfare of poor and the backward classes.

He participated in the programme of distribution of pensions and Pasupu Kumkuma cheques to the beneficiaries at Tangutur panchayat office on Sunday.

Watching the glowing faces of the beneficiaries, Collector announced that the government had expanded the welfare pensions of 12 categories and enhanced the pensions for old age, widow, single woman, toddy tappers, weavers, fishermen, people suffering from AIDS to Rs 2000 from Rs 1000 while the pensions for differently abled, hijras, dappu artistes from Rs 1500 to Rs 3000 and dialysis patients from Rs 2500 to Rs 3500.

He announced that the pensions are being distributed in festive mood to the beneficiaries from Saturday to Monday.

He announced that the State government has increased 5,000 pensions for the district and sanctioned funds for Rs 10,000 to each DWCRA woman as the Pasupu Kumkuma. He said that the Chandranna Bima scheme received 100 percent satisfaction from the beneficiaries and announced that the pending ration cards will be sanctioned soon.

He explained about various welfare programs by the government being implemented successfully in the district and advised the farmers to utilize the Nagarjuna Sagar water carefully.

Kondapi MLA DBV Swamy explained that the number of pensioners increased from 1078 to 1877 from 2014 to 2019 in Tangutur panchayat. He said that there are 3841 women in 386 DWCRA groups and they are receiving Rs 3,80,41,000 as Pasupu Kumkuma in the form of cheques in the second phase.

The TDP leader Damacharla Satya, MPP Ch Chandrasekhar, Tangutur Tahsildar, MPDO, and other officials also participated in the programme.
