Tirupati: An awareness meeting on tobacco products including the ill-effects of consuming these products, the laws related to the sale of these products and restrictions on the sale of tobacco products to children will be held here on Friday.
New Delhi-based NGO ‘Consumer Voice’ in association with Vijayawada based ‘Consumer Guidance Society’ and city based District Consumer Council (DCC) organising the one-day awareness programme which will be held in youth hostel, MR Palle at 10 am on Friday.
DCC president P Raja Reddy said doctors, health consultants, social activists, representative of NGOs will speak on various aspects of tobacco products including central acts to regulate/control tobacco menace, prevention of the sale of the products like gutka, khaini etc., key finding of the sale of tobacco in Andhra Pradesh and other topics including the health hazards and diseases due to consumption of tobacco products.
The meet also to discuss and chalk out a programme to contain the menace of tobacco products more so to educate the youth against falling prey to the products.
