Vijayawada: A book titled ‘Srikakulam Kaifiyat’, edited by K Narasimhulu and Dr E Sivanagireddy was launched by Deputy Speaker Dr Mandali Buddha Prasad at Srikakulam in Krishna district on Monday.

The book was released as part of 2nd day of Srikrishnadevarayalu Mahotstavalu.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Buddha Prasad said that Srikrishanadevarayalu visited Srikakulandhradeva temple on February 11, 1518 and started penning Amuktamalyada, a Manhattan opus of medieval Andhra.

In commemoration of his visit, the department of Language and Culture, Tourism department, Durga Malleswara Temple, Srikakulam temple and Diviseema Itihasa Parishodaka Mandali were jointly organising the festival for the past 11 years.

As part of the festival, Srikakulam Kaifiyat (local record) compiled from Mackenzie Manuscripts and edited by Vidwan Katta Narasimhulu and Dr E Sivanagireddy, CEO, Cultural Centre Of Vijayawada and Amaravathi which chronicles the mythological and historical account of Srikakulam town and the temple, was released.

The book is very much useful to the research scholars. Dr Sivanagireddy said that the book is unique in presenting the original script, original language and the content in colloquial language.

Kolakaluri Inoch, Chairman, AP Sahitya Academy, Ella Venkateswararao, Turlapati Kutumbarao, Gummadi Gopalakrishna, Chairman, AP Nataka Academy were present on the occasion.
