Eluru: RDO G Chakradhara Rao has informed that 64 teams have been formed in 16 mandals of Eluru division to create awareness among people on the use of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trial (VVPAT). He received representations from people during Meekosam programme here on Monday.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that voter awareness campaigns have been arranged in a big way. Four teams in each mandal would carry out the awareness programmes at important public places and at all polling stations, if possible till the day of polling.
The administration has made arrangement under which the voters can verify whether they voted correctly or not with the help of VVPAT machines. Video shows would be displayed so that voters would quickly grasp the procedure of voting and its verification.
The arrangements made by the Election Commission would help in clarifying the doubts in voters regarding the effective functioning of the EVMs.
Stating that they were accepting applications for registration of voters and processing them immediately, the RDO said that they would accept the voter registration application forms till the last date of filing nominations by the contesting candidates in the ensuing elections.
They had already inspected polling stations for provision of basic facilities like drinking water, electricity, ramps, furniture etc, he added.
