Ongole: The members of the Andhra Pradesh Vidyarthi Joint Action Committee protested in front of the Andhra Kesari Tanguturi Prakasam University against the planned tour of Amit Shah to Prakasham and other districts in the State.

They hanged the effigy of the BJP president and demanded that the Union government award Special Category Status and implement the State Reorganization Bill.

The APVJAC president Rayapati Jagadeesh said that the BJP has promised the special category status to Andhra Pradesh in the Parliament and the Prime Minister Narendra Modi did the same in the election meetings.

He questioned the BJP president as how he could enter the State without fulfilling the important promise that was made four years ago.

He also alleged that BJP leaders from the State also failed in sanctioning a railway zone, major port, and shipbuilding center and even including the district in the list of backward districts.

The APVJAC district general secretary Murali advised the BJP leaders to cancel Amit Shah’s tour to avoid embarrassment and protests from the farmers and youth in the district.
