Amaravati: The ticket aspirants in the TDP wait in queues along with their family members at the residence of Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu at Undavalli in Guntur district, where the latter decide their chances.
On Tuesday, leaders including families of MLC BeedaRavichandra Yadav of Nellore, TDP senior leader Sugavasi Palakonda Rayudu of Kadapa, Guntur Lok Sabha member GallaJayadev and his mother Aruna, defected MLA Jyothula Nehru and MP Thota Narasimham of East Godavari and others met Chandrababu Naidu and tried their best to convince him. BeedaMastan Rao requested Naidu to give Nellore Lok Sabha ticket. He is a senior leader of the party whose properties were raided by the IT department recently.
Both GallaJayadev and his mother reportedly requested Chandrababu Naidu to give tickets. Speaking to journalists after meeting Naidu, Jayadev said that the party has been finalising the tickets for the ensuing general elections. It was proposed that Jayadev wanted to contest again for Guntur Lok Sabha while his mother likes to contest from Chittoor district.
Responding to a question on the likelihood of film star Nagarjuna contesting on YSRCP ticket in Guntur Lok Sabha, Jayadevsaid it was not correct. He explained, “If Nagarjuna likes to contest, then he might have informed me by now as we have good personal relations”.
Meanwhile, Thota Narasimham, who expressed his inability to contest in the ensuing general elections on the health grounds, requested the party chief to give MLA ticket to his wife.
He said that they have strong base in Jaggampet Assembly constituency, from where Jyothula Nehru (who had defected from YSRCP) is representing to the Assembly at present. On the other hand, Nehru also sought to contest this time on TDP ticket.
On the other hand, the disappointed mandal level leaders village level cadres from Tadikonda and Kovvur Assembly segments staged protests at Undavalli, against sitting MLA Tenali Sravan Kumar and Minister KS Jawahar respectively. The cadres stated that they would work against the party if Chandrababu Naidu gives tickets to these two leaders.
