Vijayawada: District Collector MD Imtiaz said that the district administration was gearing up with all arrangements and strict vigil for Ethical Voting for the forthcoming elections without the influence of money or gifts.

Addressing the media on Friday, the Collector said special drive will be organised for voter enrolment and changes on February 23 and 24. The voters are requested to visit the polling stations with Aadhaar card and passport size photograph for new enrolment or necessary changes if need be and verify their names in the list.

Awareness programmes on EVMs and VVPATs will be carried out and special arrangements like wheelchair will be made for differently-abled.

He said that the district election authorities will make wide publicity on voting through TV, theatres and the media besides a month-long campaign starting from Feb 29.

The Collector said that there are 33.05 lakh voters who have enrolled in the district, which include 2.5 lakh new voters. About 33,000 staff will be deployed at 3,968 polling stations.

The Collector appealed to the voters to vote as per their choice without the influence of money or gifts.

The district administration was making fool proof security measures on Andhra Pradesh-Telangana State borders at the election time.

DRO A Prasad, Joint Collector P Babu Rao, Trainee Sub Collector Khaja Vali and others were present.
