Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan lamented that Rayalaseema was lagging in development for many decades despite having great history and providing several chief ministers of the state
Kurnool: Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan lamented that Rayalaseema was lagging in development for many decades despite having great history and providing several chief ministers of the state. He said the role of corrupt politicians would come to an end in 2019 general elections as the people of the region, especially youth, are craving for radical changes. Pawan Kalyan was addressing a huge gathering during his roadshow at Kondareddy Buruju on the first day of his three-day tour in the district on Sunday.
He said the name Kurnool brings to mind Uyyalavada Narasimha Reddy, who revolted against British rulers. “Reddy is not a caste. The word denotes sacrifice, and also means one who protects. But now some are indulging in politics in the name of caste. So far, one to two castes are ruling the people of Andhra Pradesh but it is not going to continue any longer. The entry of Jana Sena Party is going to change the entire politics,” he said.
The Jana Sena chief said he may not have been born and brought up in Rayalaseema but he had tasted raagi mudda, a favourite food of the region. He said that he was not interested in playing caste-based politics nor was he into making false promises like some leaders. “They are promising a budget of Rs 4 lakh crore. How can they do it when we don’t have revenue of Rs 1 lakh crore?,” he said.
The Jana Sena chief asked what was the use of an airport in Kurnool where the youth could not get employment. The government, instead should have focused on establishing skill development centres and industries to generate jobs, he added. Targeting Rajya Sabha member TG Venkatesh, the Jana Sena leader alleged that factories belonging to Venkatesh were polluting water of Tungabhadra river, the only source of water to quench the thirst of this region.
He advised the people to be alert in casting their votes in the 2019 elections and assured that he would stay with the people to fight against the corrupt governments and in ensuring good government by uniting all castes.
