Bhimavaram: UV Ramanaraju, a prominent ophthalmologist of the town, is helping many visually-challenged persons pursue education and get jobs to fulfil his vision of serving the blind.

As a human being, he loves the blind and always finds ways to help them succeed in life. With the motto of service, he established a school, Centre for Visually Challenged in 2004.

He started his ambitious school with four students and two voluntary teachers. He teaches the partially and permanently blind to complete their high school and also Intermediate. Depending on the interest of the student, he also extends help to pursue graduation also.

Dr Ramanaraju said now the school strength is 40 students with 10 voluntary teachers. Not only students from the town, but also students from areas far by 30 km from the town also come to the school.

“Buses operated by other educational institutions allow our students to travel free from school to their destination. The poor students who cannot afford education and also blind are getting benefitted by our attempt.

I am happy to announce that 19 of my students got government jobs while four private jobs,” said Dr Ramanaraju.
