Eluru: An inter-state police official’s meet on elections has decided to check flow of liquor and money from borders during elections.

Eluru Range DIG Dr CM Trivikrama Varma and Telangana State North Zone IGP Nagi Reddy along with police officials from both states convened a meeting here on Tuesday.

Speaking on the occasion, Nagi Reddy asked the police officials posted at border to exchange communication with counterparts to check the crime.

He opined that sharing information with police in check-posts of other places would help in reducing the crime.

In his speech, Varma called upon the officials to check the flow of liquor at borders. It is a challenging task to deal with crime during election time.

He said police of both Telugu states should ensure better coordination during polls.

The police would conduct joint operations by taking help of neighbouring states’ police officials in Maoist-infested areas.

He appealed to the officials to strive hard to make the elections incident-free.

Any crucial information should be shared with the other states in right time to deal with criminals, he added.
