Guntur: All the Shiva temples were colourfully decorated and devotees performed special pujas to the Lord on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri here on Monday. Ekadasa Rudrabhishekam and Laksha Bilwarcha were performed. A large number of devotees visited the temples and broke the coconuts and performed pujas to fulfil their wishes.

Special pujas were performed in Amaralingeswara Swamy Temple at Amaravati since 4 am. The devastanam authorities performed abhishekams and bilwarchana to the presiding deity Amaralingeswara Swamy. The women lit the lamps in the temple premises. Bhajana Sanghas performed cultural programmes.

The district police made elaborate security arrangements to check untoward incidents.
Similarly, special pujas were performed in the Omkara Kshetram at Brodipet in Guntur city on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Devotees formed serpentine queues at the temple to have darshan of the Lord Siva. The women performed grama kumkum vratam and distributed Pasupu-Kumkum and fruits.

Special pujas were performed to Lord Bala Koteswara Swamy at Aravapalli near Repalle on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri. Repalle MLA Anganai Satya Prasad visited the temple and performed pujas. He distributed lemon rice and butter milk to the devotees who visited the temple.

A large number of devotees visited the Amaralingeswara Swamy temple at Daida in Gurazala in Guntur district on Monday. Devotees took holy bath in River Krishna.
The APSTRC operated special buses to all the Saiva Kshetras on the occasion.
