Guntur: Making it clear that he will not contest to Lok Sabha, Assembly Speaker Kodela Siva Prasada Rao said that he would contest from either Sattenapalli or Narsaraopet Assembly constituency in the coming elections.

His comments during a media interaction here on Tuesday come amid speculation that TDP may field him in Narsraopet Lok Sabha constituency. He said that he had refused to contest from Narsaraopet LS seat when NT Rama Rao himself made it.

“I am not interested in national politics. I developed both Sattenapalli and Narsaraopet Assembly constituencies equally. If I contest from one Assembly constituency, I will take up the responsibility of getting party candidate win in the other constituency,” he said.

Replying to a question, he said that party president N Chandrababu Naidu will decide from where he would contest. He expressed confidence that his Assembly seat would be decided in the Narasaraopet Parliament constituency review meeting.

Stating that fruits of welfare schemes had reached the eligible people and the Chief Minister was developing the state, Siva Prasada Rao said party will win 140 Assembly seats and Naidu will become the Chief Minister again. He said though it was not a custom for Speaker to make political comments, he was making them in response to criticism of YSRCP leaders’ allegations.

Expressing serious concern over deterioration of values in politics, he said the TRS government had deleted 26 lakh names of voters from the voters’ list before the Assembly elections and filed case against the TDP leaders.

Following their footsteps, he said now the YSRCP leaders were submitting applications for the deletion of TDP voters’ names and playing similar games in the state. “If Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, YSRCP chief YS Jaganmohan Reddy continued to indulge in such conspiracies against Naidu, it will benefit the TDP in the coming elections,” he said while adding that the TDP would be get the support of beneficiaries of welfare schemes being implemented by the state government.
