Kakinada: The allotment of stalls in the newly constructed Kothapeta Fish Market is going on without the knowledge of municipal officials and with involvement of some local TDP leaders by collecting money, it is alleged.

The new fish market was constructed at a cost of Rs 1.40 crore and was declared open by Finance Minister Yanamala Ramakrishnudu last month.

There are 100 stalls for sale of fish products and 40 slots for cutting of fish products. There are more than 200 women who depend on the sale of fish products.

The construction of fish markets was taken up in Kakinada Smart City at two places in main market and at Kothapeta market with a cost of Rs 2.90 core for both markets and the Kothapeta market was completed first.

Some women who sell fish said on Saturday, that some local leaders of ruling party have collected Rs 3,000 for allotment of the stall.

When contacted, Kakinada Corporation Commissioner K Ramesh denied of allotting stalls to any one till date.
