New luxury car from Mercedes

German luxury carmaker Mercedes- Benz launched CLA Class sedan, priced in the range of Rs 31.5-35.9 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), to further strengthen its position in the country. The car will be available in both diesel and petrol options in three variants. The diesel version comes with 4-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine with direct injection provides a fuel efficiency of 17.9 km per litre. The engine produces 100 kW power between 3600-4400 rpm with a maximum torque of 300 Nm between 1600-3000 rpm. The 2 litre petrol engine produces 135 kW power at 5500 rpm with a maximum torque of 300 Nm between 1200-4000 rpm. It accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.8 seconds with a top speed of 235 km/h. "We expect the CLA to be one of the volume drivers and that's why we decided to produce the car in India," Eberhard Kern, MD & CEO, Mercedes- Benz India. In 2013 and 2014 our sales grew by over 50 per cent and there are not many markets globally with that kind of growth. In 2015, we have a fascinating year ahead, he added.
