Hyderabad: German luxury carmaker Audi, which enjoys market leadership in India’s luxury automotive space, is betting big on the Q3 SUV for further consolidating its position in the country. So, the compact luxury sports utility vehicle (SUV) has received decent updates just three years after it first landed in the country in the year 2012. The 2015 Audi Q3 which is set to go on sale now has LED headlamps at its disposal.
Redesigned LED tail lights with stylish turn signals and Audi’s signature Singleframe grille lend bold look to the SUV which now comes equipped with newly-designed 17-inch alloy wheels, among others. Inside, you will be greeted by new tangent aluminium inserts which replace their wooden counterparts on dashboard and doors we have seen in the outgoing avatar. Audi has also wrapped many a controls and switches in aluminium for a sportier feel and look.
Panoramic sunroof and rear view camera are the other nice things on offer. But, the real story of the new Audi Q3 is on the transmission side. The SUV has now got paddle-shifters on the steering wheel that allow those behind it enjoy the grunt and gumption of a manual setup. And, it comes with MMI navigation system as well. However, at the heart of the new Audi Q3 is the same 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine that produces 177 bhp peak power at 4,200 rpm and 380 Nm torque that starts at 1,750 rpm and continues till 2,500 rpm.
The meaty plant takes the compact SUV on a zero-to-100 kmph odyssey in just 8.12 seconds before it hits the top speed of 212 kmph. Audi also retuned the suspension package for better comfort and supple drive. “Audi Q3 is doing exceptionally well in India. With the new version now, it is all set to add to Audi’s growth further. Audi has always been the first mover in introducing products across the range,” says Joe King, Head, Audi India.
But how does the 2015 Audi Q3 drive? We have got to sample the updated Q3 recently and found it to be quite impressive on many fronts. Audi India has more or less succeeded in packing more into the entry-level luxury SUV – be it paddle-shifters, panoramic sunroof, MMI infotainment with navigation, new alloy wheels and the LED headlamps. And you don’t have to be young to enjoy all these on offer for the 2015 Audi Q3 is an ideal option for young and young at heart.
