Piaggio India starts its operations in Nepal. Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio, maker of scooter Vespa announced its entry into Nepal through its Indian arm by launching the Vespa.

Italian two-wheeler maker Piaggio, maker of scooter Vespa announced its entry into Nepal through its Indian arm by launching the Vespa. The company re-entered the Indian market in 2012 and since then has launched the Vespa, Vespa S, Vespa VX and very recently the Vespa Elegante.

The company launched two variants of the Vespa scooter in Nepal and has priced it at NPR 2,49,946 and NPR 2,63,946 respectively. Piaggio India Managing Director Stefano Pelle said: "This event is particularly important for the Piaggio Group that is very focused on this part of Asia in its globalisation strategies. The youth here has a great fashion sense of their own, which is why we think that Vespa will fit perfectly as a brand.

We are certain that Vespa will allure the youth with its unmistakable style and Italian charm," The Vespa is powered by a 125cc engine and has features such as disc brake, tubeless tyres and single piece monocoque steel body. The company will export the scooter which is currently produced in its plant in Baramati, Maharashta to Nepal.
