Varun Motors in Hyderabad on behalf of Maruti Suzuki took off the wraps of the Ciaz Hybrid at a starting price of Rs 8.23 lakh (ex-showroom). The car manufacturer claims that the hybrid Ciaz is the most fuel-efficient car in the country at 28 kmpl, thus raising the bar for fuel efficient cars in India.
The company unveiled and delivered Maruti Suzuki to one Venkatram Reddy at its Begumpet Showroom on Tuesday. Hyderabad district collector Rahul Bojja unveiled the car in presence of Muneesh Bali, Regional Manager-Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (AP & Telangana), Varun Dev, Managing Director, Varun Motors, RC Raju, Executive Director and DK Raju Director, Neeraj, GM and other staff were present on the occasion.
The new vehicle, which will replace the existing Ciaz diesel, and challenge segment leader Honda City, will also put the spotlight on diesel cars, which were losing the edge to petrol variants. Ciaz, which will come with a Suzuki Hybrid Vehicle System (SHVS), has a mild hybrid system mated with a 1.3 litre diesel engine.
While the technology will be imported, the high import cost will be offset by the incentives given by the government through lower excise duty of 12.5 per cent and subsidy extension of Rs 12,000- Rs 13,000 under electric and hybrid vehicle policy of Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Hybrid and Electric Vehicles (FAME), which will help the company save over Rs 1 lakh on the ticket price.
Equipped with Smart Hybrid features including Idle Engine Start/Stop, Power Assist and Brake Energy Regeneration, Ciaz SHVS aims to create a new benchmark in fuel efficiency, making it friendly for the customer as well as the environment. “Through Ciaz Smart Hybrid, we are deploying technology to benefit the customer and the environment, both at the same time.
Brand Ciaz has been one of the major success stories for Maruti Suzuki in the past one year. It has won nearly 60,000 customers in India and overseas and established itself as a leading brand in the premium sedan segment. Ciaz Smart Hybrid will further strengthen its position,” informed a senior spokesperson from Maruti Suzuki.
He emphasised, “Ciaz Smart Hybrid is special also, because it helps us participate in India’s vision of promoting hybrid and electric vehicles. By offering support through the FAME program, the Government has ensured that hybrid technology, while being clean and customer friendly, also becomes more attractive and accessible.”
