Volkswagen has officially unveiled the facelifted 2016 Passat. The facelift model comes with new bumpers, a more prominent four-bar grille and optional LED head- and taillights.
The rear of the sedan too has been redesigned and the trunk is now compact and there is additional chrome at the rear.
Volkswagen has turned up the heat and there's a new R-Line variant which will boast of a sportier front bumper, unique side skirts and a rear diffuser. The model also has black accents and 19-inch anthracite Salvador aluminum-alloy wheels.
The redesigning bit continues on the inside as well with designers adding a new instrument panel, a tweaked steering wheel and good quality materials.
The model also has piano black trim, chrome accents and an MIB II infotainment system with USB /Bluetooth connectivity as well as Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and MirrorLink compatibility.
There are some new options available on the car like heated rear seats and an Easy-Open keyless access trunk that opens when an owner's foot is placed underneath it.
Coming to the engines, three engines will be available including a 1.8-litre TSI four-cylinder, a 2.0-litre TDI four-cylinder and the car will come to India with both these engines.
Owing to the poor demand for the Passat in India, Volkswagen discontinued the car last year. But the company is now planning to launch the new-generation model of the premium saloon here and it is one of the five cars that will come to India soon.
