Maruti has officially started accepting bookings for its upcoming Baleno hatchback. The new Maruti Baleno will be sold exclusively through its premium Nexa dealership. The booking amount for the Maruti Baleno has been set at Rs 25,000. The new Baleno will be the second Maruti offering to be sold at the Nexa dealership after the Maruti S-Cross. The new Maruti Baleno will be launched in India on October 26th and was recently showcased at the 2015 Frankfurt Motor Show.

The task on hand of the new Maruti Baleno is cut-out as it will rival the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Honda Jazz and the Volkswagen Polo. Talking about styling, the Maruti Baleno hatchback will have a Y-shaped grill and sweptback headlamps reminiscent of the Swift. The swooping roofline and the raked C-pillar give it a European look and feel.

Expect the new premium hatchback from Maruti to get goodies like start/stop button, Bluetooth, climate control and the works alongwith cruise control to set it apart from its rivals. The Baleno gets a large central knob for the climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system similar to the one found in the S-Cross and the Ciaz. The new Maruti Baleno hatchback will get both petrol and diesel engine options.

The new Maruti Baleno will be offered with the tried and trusted 1.2-litre K-Series petrol motor and .3-litre diesel powerplant. The diesel motor will churn out 75PS of power and 190Nm of peak torque. It is expected that the Boosterjet engine will make its Indian debut at a later stage. Also the petrol variant of the new Maruti Baleno will be offered with a CVT gearbox and one can expect the SHVS technology to be offered on the diesel Baleno. The new Maruti Baleno hatchback is expected to be priced between Rs 6.5-9.0 lakh in India.
