Hyundai may bring the Tucson SUV to the Indian market next year. This will be the second innings for the South Korean automaker’s SUV and it is expected to be brought in via the CBU route with the option of a single diesel engine.
This latest version of the Tucson was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show and now completely embodies the latest fluidic design language. The face is familiar as it shares much of the design with the Santa Fe. The grille is large while the double barrel headlights are swept back and add well to the image of the car. The rear gets wrap around lamps, contrast coloured bash plate element and rear windscreen that leans forward.
The cabin has a lot of the Hyundai elements that we have seen on its other premium models. Standard features are expected to include climate control, touchscreen infotainment system and an electrically adjustable seat for the driver. We can expect the India-spec car to also have beige and black combination for the trim, leather seats, rear AC vent and a 12V power socket.
Internationally, the Tucson is offered with a 1.7-litre and 2.0-litre diesel motor as well as a 1.6-litre petrol unit. The diesels produce 116bhp/280Nm and 136bhp/373Nm respectively while the petrol unit produces 132bhp/161Nm of torque. Both engines can be had with a six-speed manual or a six-speed AT. The European markets also get the option of AWD; however India will get the car only in FWD configuration.
