Honda will be launching a mid-life facelift of the City in 2017 but the company has now given the C-segment sedan a small but significant update. The vehicle now gets standard dual front airbags on all variants while ABS with EBD is also standard.

The car also gets rear ISOFIX and top tether anchor for child seats as a standard fitment now. The City is also offered in a new variant now – VX (O) BL which is the normal VX (O) variant but gets full black interiors.

Honda says that they released this trim with black insides based on customer feedback. The black interiors will be offered only with Alabaster Silver and Premium White Orchid Pearl colours. It will be offered with the manual trims of both petrol and diesel engines.

The VX (O) also comes with other features like sunroof and an AVN system. Apart from this, there are no other changes to the City and it continues to come in the same variants and engine options.

The Honda City is offered with a 1.5-litre i-VTEC petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 7-step CVT. The powerplant produces 117 BHP of power and 145 Nm of torque and gives out a fuel efficiency of 17.8 km/l. Meanwhile, the diesel engine is a 1.5-litre i-DTEC unit too churning out 99 BHP of power and 200 Nm of torque, mated to a 6-speed manual transmission.

The oil-burner has a mileage figure of 26 km/l. The Honda City is ruling the C-segment in India and even though it competes with the Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Nissan Sunny, Renault Scala and Fiat Linea, it has continued to maintain its lead position.

The City clocked sales of more than 6000 units in the previous month and after this update, we are pretty sure that Honda loyalists are going to have even more praises for the product. The City is priced between Rs. 7.64-11.91 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi).
