​Delhi: UM Motorcycles have officially annoucned their arrival in India.

Having first showed up at Delhi Auto Expo 2014, UM Motorcycles, the Indian arm of the Miami based UM International LLC launches its first product lineup at Delhi Auto Expo 2016. UM Motorcycles is the result of a 50:50 joint venture with Lohia Auto.

Delhi Auto Expo 2016 will see UM motorcycles unveil its Renegade cruiser motorcycles: Renegade Sport S, Renegade Commando and Renegade Classic. UM Renegade Commando cruiser runs on a 279cc, single-cylinder, water-cooled engine to offer 25bhp at 8,500rpm and max torque of 21.8Nm at 7,000rpm mated to a six-speed transmission. Overseas, the 2016 UM Renegade Commando cruiser features blind spot mirrors and an USB charging port.

True to cruiser offerings, UM Renegade Commando handling is facilitated by wide cruising handlebars and hydraulic telescopic front suspension and spring rear suspension with dual shock absorbers. UM Renegade Commando uses an electric start. The air filter is with paper element innovation. Ease of cruising is furthered with the use of a 6 speed synchronized mesh. Fuel tank capacity is 18 litres and the bike weighs in at 172 kg with 90 percent fuel filled.

Rajeev Mishra, Director – UM India & AMEA (Asia, Middle East and Africa) says Renegade range of cruisers is designed and customized for the Indian market. The UM Renegade Commandos cruiser offers the Indian buyer a high quality world class bike built to tackle the diverse Indian terrain with comfort and ease.

Joint venture partner, Lohia Auto is an Indian electric two-wheel maker. The agreement has given birth to UML. UM International alongwith Lohia auto has invested Rs 100 crore for business expansion at the Lohia Auto Kashipur facility in Uttarakhand.
