Delhi: The good old Honda Unicorn 150 which earned its reputation as a smooth and reliable commuter has been brought back to life again at the 2016 Auto Expo. The motorcycle which was discontinued by Honda to make room for the new family of models will be relaunched due to an undying demand.
The old Unicorn 150 will now co-exist with the Unicorn 160 and Hornet 160 R as the most affordable Honda in the 150-160 cc segment. The company has not fiddled with the original bikes specification before re-introducing it.
The bikini faired motorcycle is powered by 149.1 cc air-cooled engine which is tuned to deliver 13.3 PS at 8,500 rpm and 12.84 Nm of torque at 5,500 rpm. Transmission is a 5-speed unit.
The Honda Unicorn 150 is the first production bike to be launched in India with rear mono-shock suspension. The front end employs regular telescopic fork. The 18-inch alloy wheels come shod with 2.75×18 front and 100/90-18 rear tyres. The front wheel is decelerated by 240 mm front disc while the rear wheel adopts a 130 mm drum unit.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India (HMSI) is also showcasing the CX-02 twin-cylinder concept bike, Neowing three-wheeler concept and Africa Twin Adventure tourer at the 2016 Auto Expo.
We expect the Honda Unicorn 150 to be relaunched in the coming weeks. Competition would come from the Bajaj Discover 150 and Yamaha SZ-RR V2.0.
