Hero MotoCorp
Hero MotoCorp sales in January 2016 continued over the 5.5 lakh mark. The company sold 563,348 units in January 2016 while sales were at 558,982 units in January 2015. Extensive sales in the scooter segment were driven by the new Maestro Edge and Duet which resulted in increased market share in the segment. Hero MotoCorp displayed new motorcycles at the 2016 Auto Expo – Xtreme 200S, XF3R Concept, Duet E, Splendor iSmart 110, Karizma in dual tone colours, HX250 and many more.
Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India
HMSI reported sales of 3,78,719 units during the month of January 2016. This is a growth of 0.32% when compared to sales reported in January 2015, which stood at 3,77,502 units. HMSI said that their scooters continued to post growth, registering sales of 2,35,960 units, up by 3%, while their motorcycle sales declined for the month. HMSI at 2016 Auto Expo showcased the new Navi, Africa Twin, CX-02 Concept.
TVS Motor Company
TVS Motors has reported a 12.4% increase in sales in January 2016. Total sales stood at 208,485 units in January 2016 as against 185,997 units sold in January 2015. Two wheeler exports increased 51.2% from 19,232 units exported in January 2015 to 29,071 units exported in January 2016.
In the domestic market, TVS sales grew from 159,804 units in January 2015 to 172,162 units in January 2016, posting a growth of 7.7%. Both scooter and motorcycle sales reported growth of 14.1% and 19.9% respectively. At the Auto Expo, TVS showcased three new exciting concepts – Akula 310, Apache X21, EnTorQ 210.
Bajaj Auto
Bajaj Auto Limited also reported an increase in sales by 2% during the month of January 2016. The company sold a total of 2,46,955 motorcycles during the month of January 2015 which increased to 2,52,988 units in January 2016.
Royal Enfield
Royal Enfield reported highest ever monthly sales in January 2016. Total domestic sales during the past month stood at 47,140 units, a 62.42% increases as compared to 28,157 units sold in January 2015. January 2016 is the sixth month that Royal Enfield sales have cross the 40,000 unit mark during a calendar month this fiscal.
The sale of models with engine capacity upto 350cc stood at 44,234 units in January 2016 as against sales of 25,799 units in January 2015. Sales of models of engine capacity above 350cc stood at 3,476 units in January 2016 as against 3,128 units in January 2015. Exports during the past month dipped 26% from 770 units exported in January 2015 to 570 units exported in January 2016. The company expects to see the new Himalayan boost company sales in the coming months.
India Yamaha Motor
Yamaha Motors has seen domestic sales increase 49% in January 2016. The company sold 39,313 units in January 2015 which increased to 58,743 units in the past month. New launches have contributed to increased sales while a long list of bikes and scooters which are on display at the 2016 Auto Expo, will be launched soon and expected to play a major role in increasing sales over the next few months. At the Auto Expo, Yamaha India launch MT-09, new colours of Fascino and SZ-RR.
Mahindra Two Wheelers
Mahindra Two Wheelers Limited announced sales figures for January 2016 when sales stood at 10,317 units. Domestic sales were at 9,240 units while 1,077 units were exported during the past month. However the month of December saw sales higher at 12,112 units with 1,624 units exported. Mahindra showcased new Mojo Scrambler and Adventure tourer concepts along with new matte paint schemes.
Suzuki Two Wheeler India
Suzuki Two Wheeler India are yet to reveal sales report for Jan 2016. At the Auto expo they revealed new Gixxer and Gixxer SG with rear disc brakes. They also unveiled Gixxer SF FI and new colour options.
