BMW India will launch the 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible on March 16 for the Indian market. The open-top car will serve as a niche segment in India and will be targeted at the consumers looking for the joy and style while driving with the roof down.

The 2016 Mini Cooper Convertible is built on a new UKL platform and has grown in size. It measures 3,821mm in length, 1,727mm in width and 1,415mm in height.

These dimensions have increased by 98mm, 44mm and 1mm respectively, as compared to its predecessor. The wheelbase is longer by 28mm, while the front and rear track have expanded by 42mm and 34mm respectively. The new car is heavier by 120kg due to the rise in the chassis strength.

The new Mini Cooper Convertible for the Indian market will be offered in both petrol and diesel powertrains. The petrol version might be powered by the 1.5-litre three-cylinder mill capable of producing 134bhp of power, while the oil-burner might get a 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine churning out 116bhp of power.

All these engines will come mated to a six-speed automatic gearbox. Expected to be priced at Rs 35lakh, the car will be brought to India via the CBU route (Completely Built-up Unit).
