Volvo India plans to launch the facelifted version of the V40 hatchback in India, in the last quarter of 2016. The Mercedes-Benz A-Class and BMW 1 Series rival have been recently updated at the Geneva Motor Show.

The most prominent change in the new car is to the face. The V40 facelift gets the hammer-shaped LED DRLs and vertical slat grille, based on the new Volvo design philosophy. Apart from that, the hatchback is now available in the global market with five new exterior colours and eight alloy wheel design options.

Inside, the car gets new City Weave upholstery, new charcoal / blond steering wheel option, new trim colours and aluminium inserts. Black headlining will also be available as an option and the infotainment system has been updated to work with Windows 10-based smartphones, apart from Apple and Androids.

The engine options in the global market haven’t been touched, and if Volvo follows the same strategy in India, we will continue to get the 2.0-litre diesel unit producing 150bhp and 350Nm. The hatchback uses six-speed transmission powering the front wheels.
