Suzuki Motorcycles India has launched the new Access 125 at Rs 53,887 (ex-showroom, Delhi). According to the company, the new Access 125 uses a rigid lightweight frame to improve mileage and stability. The scooter gets a revised headlamp cluster, turn signal indicators and reworked body panels, and stands longer, wider and taller than its predecessor with a longer wheelbase as well.
The new Access is also lighter than its predecessor. The new Access 125 now features a steel front fender, longer seat and footboard for added comfort, along with multi-function digital instruments, a larger 21.8 litre underseat storage bin as against the 20 litres on the old model and an easy, ‘one-click’ start system. It is also equipped with a larger 12-inch front wheel, compared to its predecessor’s 10-inch unit.
A 12V DC socket, alloy wheels and a front disc brake are available as add-on options. Mechanically, the Access gets a new 124cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that features the company’s SEP technology which Suzuki claims helps improve the scooter’s fuel efficiency and acceleration. Power output remains near identical to the old model at 8.58bhp. Suzuki claims that the new Access 125 can return 64kpl thus making it more fuel efficient than before.
At 5.6 litres, the fuel tank is marginally smaller than the older model's 6 litres, though the manufacturer says this won't affect the scooter’s range. The Access 125 is available in five colour options – Pear Suzuki Deep Blue, Candy Sonoma Red, Pearl Mirage White, Metallic Matt Fibroin Gray and Glass Sparkle Black.
