April 24 debut for Datsun Redi Go
Though the Datsun Redi-Go will share powertrain and several other components with the Kwid, it has an entirely different appeal by virtue of its aesthetics and hence, would be catering to an audience of different tastes. Whereas the Kwid settled for a boxy SUV-ish styling, the Redi-Go adopts an urban character with modern lines and a tall stance.
The Redi-Go will be pitted against the likes of Maruti Alto 800, Hyundai Eon and of course, its own cousin, the Renault Kwid.Autocar India reports that the Datsun Redi-Go entry level small car which was previewed by a design concept at the Auto Expo 2014 is scheduled to make its world premiere on April 14 in New Delhi. The car is based on the Renault-Nissan CMF-A low-cost platform which was introduced by the Renault Kwid.

Going by the prototypes, the extererior design of the concept is more or less retained as it is.
Thanks to it taller stance, the Redi-Go is expected to offer a sense of space that is better than that of the Kwid. However, the Japanese product is expected to fall a little short on equipment compared to its French counterpart.
The Datsun Redi-Go will go on sale with the 800 cc three-cylinder petrol engine which is mated a 5-speed manual transmission. On board the Kwid, the motor produes 54 PS and 72 Nm of torque. A 1.0-litre petrol engine with AMT is likely to be introduced at a later stage.

The Redi-Go will be made alongside the Kwid at the Alliance’s Oragadam plant.
Datsun India was reportedly planning to undercut the Kwid by around INR 30,000 but Renault pulled off a surprise move by coming up with extremely aggressively pricing, putting it associate in a challenging situation. It would be interesting to see how Datsun Redi-Go is positioned with respect to its sibling.
