The rebranded SUV gets Power and Economy drive modes. The Mahindra NuvoSport, the redefined Quanto, is all set to launch later today and you can watch all the action live here. The sub-4m ladder frame SUV is expected to be positioned above the TUV300 to cater to a slightly different set of audience base. Like the Quanto, Mahindra appears to be going for the weekend-adventure-thingy sort of marketing campaign for the updated UV.
The company has released a teaser video with a tagline – “The SUV that lets you do it all” (‘it’ refers to your bucket list). To recap, the NuvoSport features a radical front fascia with fresh design elements like a hexagonal grille, angular headlamps with LED DRL eyebrows, rugged looking bumper and a wide air-scoop on the bonnet. The UV also deviates from the company’s naming tradition of ending it with the letter ‘O’.
Changes to the sides and rear fascia are comparatively conservative. Save for additional black plastic lower-body cladding, new alloy wheels and redesigned spare wheel cover, there is nothing significantly new. The interior too retains the Quanto’s design but one can expect new color theme, seat fabrics and additional equipment such as a touchscreen infotainment system.
Leaked engine specs indicate that the 1.5-litre three-cylinder diesel engine will continue to be available in 101 PS/240 Nm tune but there is an Economy mode which detunes the power and torque outputs to 72.6 PS and 180 Nm respectively. Both 5-MT and AMT are expected to be on offer. Later today, we will also know whether the Mahindra NuvoSport will be available with a petrol engine or not.
Stay tuned as we bring all the updates from the launch floor.
