The rear suspension of the 7-seater variants has been reworked to handle the added weight.PT Toyota-Astra Motors of Indonesia reacted to the Honda BR-V by introducing two 7-seat variants of its popular Rush compact SUV. Called as the Toyota Rush 7, the model is being showcased at the ongoing Indonesian International Motor Show (IIMS) 2016 in its Sportivo Ultimo trim.

The 7 seat variants are equipped with a third row of seats complete with seats belts and grab rails but boot space has been traded off. Visually, the Rush 7 comes with Sportivo body kit and body decals. The fully-loaded Sportivo Ultimo adds contrast red accent on the front grille, stylish spare wheel cover with decals, new Sportivo alloy wheels and an exclusive Nebula Blue exterior color option.

In order to hold the extra weight and improve comfort, Toyota engineers and their TRD counterparts have tweaked the rear suspension. As a result, the ground clearance has been raised to 200 mm.

Powering the Rush is a 1.5-litre petrol engine which develops 107.5 bhp and 141.2 Nm of torque. The crossover is available either with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic transmission.

The Toyota Rush has been spotted testing in India in 2014, indicating that Toyota Kirloskar Motor could be contemplating to venture into the promising compact crossover market.
