The car will be imported into India as a CBU (Completely Built Unit).A few examples of the Ford Mustang 5.0L V8 have already arrived in India ahead of the launch in the coming months. This is the first time the iconic pony car is available in RHD version.

The sportscar has already been listed on the company’s official Indian website. According to the data on the website, the India-spec RHD Mustang 5.0-litre V8 produces 40 PS less than its US counterpart.

The India-spec car generates 401 PS and 515 Nm of torque as against the US-spec model’s 441 PS and 542 Nm of torque. In comparison, the UK-spec RHD version pumps out 416 PS and 530 Nm of torque. The power difference between the LHD and RHD variants is attributed to the shorter exhaust system in the latter (to make room for RHD steering mechanism).

Poorer fuel quality and a slightly different homologation process could have led to the India-spec Mustang’s further dip in the power and torque figures. To be positioned as a brand shaper, the Ford Mustang will be imported into India as a CBU.

The RWD coupe is equipped with modern features such as a touchscreen infotainment system, multiple drive modes and a comprehensive array of safety equipment. The Ford Mustang is estimated to be priced around INR 60 lakh (ex-showroom).
